Russian Blue Cat

The elegant Russian Blue cat, also known as the Archangel Cat is believed to have originated in the Russian port of Arkhangelsk or Archangel. Their arrival in Northern Europe and England in the 1860s is attributed to sailors bringing them from Russia and one was exhibited as an Archangel cat at England's Crystal Palace in 1875. Queen Victoria had a Russian Blue as a pet, but it was not until 1912 that the breed was given its own class, previously competing in a category with all other blue cats
