Toyger Cats - Designer Cats With Tiger Markings

Toyger cats are the result of breeding several domestic shorthair tabby cats in order to make them resemble wild tigers (through their striped markings). The 'toyger' name was created through combining the words 'toy' and 'tiger', two words that aim to reflect the appearance of the breed.

Toyger Cats - A Short History
The breed began to develop back in the 1980s when a breeder named Judy Sudgen noticed several distinctive markings on two of the cats she had bred. The markings appeared on

Russian Blue Cat

The elegant Russian Blue cat, also known as the Archangel Cat is believed to have originated in the Russian port of Arkhangelsk or Archangel. Their arrival in Northern Europe and England in the 1860s is attributed to sailors bringing them from Russia and one was exhibited as an Archangel cat at England's Crystal Palace in 1875. Queen Victoria had a Russian Blue as a pet, but it was not until 1912 that the breed was given its own class, previously competing in a category with all other blue cats

Two-Faced Cat is Oldest in World

I came across this story recently and was absolutely intrigued by it. I had heard of two-faced cats before but they usually died shortly after birth. It is a fascinating story and congratulations to Marty for taking in and looking after this unusal cat for so long.
Frank and Louie, a gray feline with two mouths, two noses and three eyes, just turned 12 years old and is the world’s oldest, living two-faced cat.
Sara Wilcox, a Guinness World Records spokeswoman said he is the “longest

Cat Mythology - Cats as Egyptian Gods

Cat mythology has always played an important role in the folklore of ancient Egypt. There were several feline gods and goddesses in the Egyptian pantheon. Black Cat Mythology: The Familiar Familiar

There is a long tradition of black cats being known as familiars in western folklore and mythology. Grimalkin, who was the witches' cat in William Shakespeare's "MacBeth" is just one example from literature. The symbology of the witches' black cat is an important part of the Halloween celebration.
According to mythology, a familiar is an animal companion that the devil gives to a witch to aid her in her magic spells. A familiar would have a name, the same as other pets; during the middle

Your Cat's Behavior - Has Your Cat Gone Mad?

Since before Egyptian Times people have been have been trying to dominate their cats, and it just doesn't happen. Normally your cat's behavior means that it will attach itself and become part of the family, but they just aren't wired to be part of a social structure like people and dogs are. A kitten will be attached to its mother, but that is soon replaced by an attachment to territory. Cats can form bonds with people and other animals, and even show affection. This will happen sooner if kitty
